Can Dead Bees Sting?
- Don’t Walk Barefoot
This is the first rule if you want to stay away from bee stings. Bees sting out of fear and if something tries to attack them they are going to attack back and sting. Especially if you are barefoot. So, as much as you love walking barefoot in your backyard, try wearing flip flops or any other shoes that will protect you.
- Avoid Wearing Bright Colors
If you ever wondered why you keep attracting bees, it may be because you are wearing bright colored clothes. Bees like landing on anything that resembles flowers, so floral prints are like a magnet to bees. Instead, it’s a good idea to wear clothes in the color of beige, white and khaki. It should make the bees go away!
- Don’t Wear too Much Perfume
This could be a problem, too. Unfortunately, bees have the power to detect and follow strong scents and if you are wearing a beautiful floral perfume, be sure that you are their next target. If they smell something strong and floral at the same time (even from a distance), they will most likely investigate it by landing on you.
- Keep Lids on Everything
Bees love empty juice bottles and will use every opportunity to check them out. No matter if they are looking for any food waste in your garbage or just buzzing around for no reason, you should be aware that empty bottles and cans attract them even more. So, make sure to keep lids on everything you can in order to keep them away.
- Keep Calm
This may sound very unreasonable to someone who is afraid of bees. But, it’s very helpful when a bee, or a pack of bees, is attacking you or keep buzzing around you. If you perform any aggressive or sudden moves, it could make the situation even worse. Instead, you should stay still as much as your fear lets you and bees will most probably go away.
As we determined that dead bees can actually sting, people should be a lot more careful when going outside. Following these tips will help in avoiding bee stings no matter if they are dead or still alive.
